Unhappy I don't see anything that calls my name!

For the entire weekend, I have looked at watches after watches online. And when I thought I wanted something, an hour later I don't want it any longer. My budget is limited so my options are not boundless. But shouldn't there be a watch out there that I must want?!!

I bought a dive watch not long ago but I feel I need a non dive watch to share my wrist time. This may sound like a rationalization to purchase a second watch but I know you understand. The reasons I started looking for the second watch are...
    - There is no other person wearing a dive watch at work so people probably think I am a dive watch-kind-of-person by now. (Don't ask because I don't know what that means either and I don't know if they really think that.) I need to throw them off by wearing a different watch on random days.
    - I wear a lab coat at work and the elastic cuff is a pain to deal with when I take the lab coat off because of the thickness of the dive watch.

The criteria I had in my mind while I was looking at the watches this weekend were...
#. Once again my budget is ~$500. $390 minimum. $700 maximum.
    #. 41mm or smaller case.
#. eta 2824 or its variant is a plus. My dive watch has Miyota 9015.
#. Date would be nice to have.
#. And I would prefer 20mm lugs so that I can use the other straps I have bought for the other watch.
    #. Nothing too dressy.
#. Screw down crown is a plus.
    #. No dive watch.

If you want, make suggestions please.

Why the ETA 2824? I think if that wasn't a requirement your options would exponentially grow.

I thought eta 2824 was common enough. Seiko or Orient don't call my name. I have tried them but no luck.

Not sure if this is too dressy… but it hits all of your other criteria.

Well, I can think of any number of watches that fit your criteria, but I don't know if they have a 2824. If you limit yourself to only one movement, regardless of how common it is, you've cut out a good portion of the field. I don't know the watches at that range well, but a 41mm or smaller case and 20 mm lugs with a date and isn't too dressy at sub 500 USD is a dime a dozen. You should probably put in the OP that you're not into Seiko or Orient.

Regardless, more helpful people than me will soon be here. Good luck.

You'll find one, just be thankful that multiple dozens of equally qualified candidates aren't showing up. As an aside, wish I had your problem with regard to the "don't see anything" part . . .

In your price range, I would take a look at Hamilton.

So many different styles, and decent quality at that price point

Check out Christopher Ward. No doubt they use Sellita's nowadays but it's the same thing.
