I finally bought a dress watch...

Was looking for something with classic elements... this one hit a few for me (you may see a number of influences, I did), and didn't break the bank. It's small to me (36mm), but a few of my current watches are beastly so it probably feels exaggerated by contrast. It's very well proportioned though, and I would say... elegantly simple. I might even share it with my girl...

    Nice choice; very Explorer-ish.

Nice watch, and it fits your wrist perfectly....

If only the end links were solid... But at the price it goes for, it is still a wonderful value.

Ive only seen the one with the power reserve function, this one looks dressier.

    What are solid end links?

The end links are where the bracelet meets the lugs of the watch. There are two types of ways of making this juncture... folded, or solid.

A solid end link is just that... A solid piece of metal that is in no way hollow...
This is a photo of of an Orient that I own... (not my photo...). You see how the WIS has dissambled the watch to look at the endlinks.... solid as can be.

Folded endlinks are hollow, weaker, tend to squeek with time, can bend springbars and aren't generally aren't as nice as solid ones.. (all this is my opinion, and I'm sure some hollow guys will chime in shortly).

Really it isn't a huge deal, but the watch in question is so nice, the cherry on top would have been Solid end links or SEL as you'll see them referred to as on this forum and others.

    Cheers...

Thanks (and to the other posters as well). Yes, the Explorer was one of the main "looks" I liked, good pickup. I have a lot of black faced watches though, and like how white/pearl looks with stainless in a dress watch. I could do without the date on this one (it would look that much cleaner and more balanced), but you can't have everything (at least not all at once ).
