    I need a watch recommendation

    Hello all,

I have been searching on my own for a watch and have not had much success in finding something that I like.

So I sat down and created a list of requirements for my perfect watch (listed below)

Hopefully your recommendations on particular brands/models will help to direct me to my next watch.

    Requirements:

    Size: 40-42mm
    Durable daily driver
Analog only: Hour, Minute and Second hands
    Day and date display
Muted finish, not too flashy, not gold
no additional bells and whistles, timers, alarms etc (bezel is OK)
Luminous dials visible in low light/dark
Water resistant to at least 150ft
Movement is not important in the selection criteria
Price is not important (within reason)

    Thank you for the help!

Nivrel - Deep Ocean, N 145.001, CASMB. Has date but no day, but worth checking out.

You just described the Seiko SKX007 - an all time classic and cheaper than you might think.

Edit: Check out the Seiko/Citizen forum for more info.

Ya the 007 and maybe a Seiko Black Monster?
Omega, Steinhart, Seiko, Glycine, Tissot, Tag Heuer, Citizen, and a few others...

Lots of Seikos have day/date complications (I have two watches with them--well, one and another incoming--and they're not my favorite, but I can get over it if the rest of the watch is nice enough and the day/date isn't super loud) and fit your other criteria. The SKX007 is one and you can get that for under $200. Hamilton's Scuba Day/Date automatic also has those features, and while the lume is good, it's not as good as Seiko's; it is a dressier watch though.
    TAG Heuer Monaco LE|Omega Speedmaster|Seamaster 300MC|Rolex Submariner|Tudor Ranger

How did it get so late so soon?

There are a ton of choices out there. If you have a rough idea of how much you're looking to spend then it could help narrow it down.
Without those details above, I'm going to agree with the above posters; Seiko is an excellent choice, either a 007 or Monster, or a dressier version if that's more your style.

What is your price point? "Within reason" means a lot of different things to different people. Ball has a lot of nice watches in the $800-$2,500 MSRP range. I'm diggin' the Fireman Victory for $1,500.

Find several on line watch dealers, and go through all the men's watches..I still do this every darn day,it's the funnest part of the hobby.
I can't tell you what you will like, but i am sure after a few days you will find several that you will love.
