I found this vintage Omega at a thrift shop (paid $5) and I was wondering if it would be worth it to fix it up a little? It has a missing minute hand and crystal.
Also, any information on the watch would be great too. Thanks!

Servicing plus parts, about $500+, you tell me.

It is an Omega 6251 with a 344 bumper movement. Unlikely to be worth fixing up a little or allot. Not only is it missing the minute hand, but it is also missing the auto winding mechanism. It is going to cost at least $200 to get the watch to work correctly and given the dial condition it will only be worth about $200 when you're done. You get a better return trying to sell it for parts.

To save yourself a lot of headaches and money I'd resell it for a small profit. This one needs a fair amount of work. Even the one hand left is bent and may or may not be the original hand.

My guess is the band is a Speidel or something and nearly worthless.

Yeah that band is trash and I removed it right away. I don't mind tinkering with it myself if it's not worth all that much...what's to lose?

If one wanted to perform these repairs, where could he go for parts? I the watch is not worth all that much I don't mind tinkering with it myself.

Ofrei may have some parts (or a complete movement). Cousins in the UK may have some parts but Omega keeps a tight reign on parts.

@cb1111, I've heard that Omega has tried to stifle any attempt to be an independent repairman/woman. I've check Ofrei out, but I am having a hard time locating any parts for this particular model. I will take a look at Cousins and see what they have. The movement (as far as I can tell) works fine, its been ticking away since I purchased it earlier today. The bent hour hand can go and the replacement of a crystal would be all for me. I really have no interest in selling the watch, so I'm not really all that concerned on perfection since my initial investment was a mere $5.

It's not worth it the cost of repair and parts is not worth the stress and cash, you can consider selling it sooner rather than later.

Omega cut off Ofrei's parts account a while back. They even complained about it on their website.
