I Think I received a broken Tissot automatic watch from jomashop.com

    Hi guys,

I'm new to the forums and also the new owner of a Tissot Le Locle automatic watch. The watch retailed for around $650 on most websites but Jomashop.com offered it for $468. I went ahead and bought the watch even though I faced some risk with them not being official Tissot retailers. I figured the price difference outweighed the risk. Anyways, I received the watch today, Feb 12th. I have tried manually winding this thing multiple times with at least 40 revolutions and can not get it to tick. It's not a screw down crown so I'm fairly positive I'm winding it correctly. Has anyone had this issue with jomashop.com and what kind of customer service should I expect? Any other advice? It's unfortunate that this happened on my first nice, automatic watch.

    Thanks for any help.

I would bet they'll replace it. You didn't remove the little tag that says "do not remove before returning," did you? (Probably not the end of the world either way.)

There was no tag of such kind that i could see. The watch just had plastic wrapping on the dial and band. I took it off to get a better feel for it, but that shouldn't prevent me from getting a replacement in my opinion. I'm just wondering if there's any chance I need to keep trying to wind it. After even just a few revolutions, should the second hand start ticking?

I'm sure they'll make it right.
On the bright side, your post will certainly warm the hearts of all the smug so and so's that are always holding their noses high and saying "I only buy from AD's because I'm just that much better than you."
    Good luck.

No in my experience an automatic watch will not start ticking after a few revolutions. Sometimes it takes a significant number of revolutions and then even then it takes a little while for it to start up. However, if you gave it 40 turns and it didn't start up after that, it would seem there's something wrong. They'll replace it for you I bet. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'll update this thread as soon as I hear from their customer support. On a side note, the watch is beautiful! just wish it ticked!

Hmm where did that come from? Everyone who buys any product new from a dealer is smug?

Sounds like their is a problem. From all the positive feedback Jomashop has on the board my guess is they will make this right. Good luck and keep us posted.
