I wanted to get a gift for the wife and ran into this

I'm walking around at the mall and I go into this store that sells all sorts of watches. There's a display that says 70% off and Swiss, so I take a look.

This Oris is marked from $1,400 retail to $400. It looks brand new and never worn, but it isn't wrapped up like a new watch. It does have the tag but it is as though it was a store display model. They also have a couple of Tag Heuer.

I'm hesitant. Seems like a huge saving. I never heard of this model. It is for my wife as it looks girly and it is 37mm but it is marked as a Mens watch.

Definitely looks like a ladies watch to me. A display watch wouldn't concern me if there were no marks. You'd want to make sure she likes the rubber strap though because other options will be limited or non-existent.

Actually the specs online say 39mm but my LeLocle is 39mm and this watch looks tiny.

It has 0 marks. Like someone just took it out of the box for display.

I wanted to surprise her but, the styling is very aggressive and I don't know what she will like it. So i walked away. Damn. $1,000 savings. That's a good deal.

Don't buy a watch for the savings. Buy it because you like it (or you think she will)

Buy it for for her. If she doesn't like it, well, it is 39mm and that seems to be a good size for you, so.......................

It's because of the taper of the case. The 39mm is on the back side but the bezel is smaller. My Oris diver is 47mm but it wears more like a 43 or 44 because of that.

39mm, is that the width or the length from lug to lug?

Does she even want an automatic? Could be a costly mistake.

It doesn't have to be an automatic, but for what you can buy at that price an Oris would be awesome, if she likes it that is.

Otherwise and $100 fashion watch would do.

it is tiny. it really is absurd they advertise this as a Men's watch. It says 39mm but it looks like 34mm.
