If it sounds too good to be true....?

Iíve been considering buying a GS watch after trying one on in the boutique. I set a watchrecon alert to see if I could get a deal on a used one. Today I saw a brand new one advertised for 22% below the boutique price.

I investigated the seller who seems to have tons of happy customers and good references and an online shop. I messaged him and he said that he has a deal in progress on that watch, but that he would order another for me.

I have bought and sold a few watches online (although none this expensive), but just wondered how you see a deal like this? Does it sound legit? Where would he be sourcing these watches from? He says he will take PayPal from me w references, and I understand that PP provides very good protection to the buyer.

Iím not a noob, but I would appreciate insight and info from those who know more than me. My mother always told me ďif it sounds too good to be true....Ē

"tons of happy customers and good references and an online shop"--which part is confusing to you?

I bought my GS from an AD and got 20% off, so your deal does not sound too good to be true.

Do your due diligence but alarm bells are not going off...
    SodiumMonkey and WastedYears like this.
Well, I was standing on a corner in Winslow, AZ and Clara Oswald slowed down to take a look at me and my GS Tiffany SnowflakeTM...

If it's a boutique only model GS, how is he getting them? Not saying you can't, but the question needs to be asked.

There's not a lot to your story to check on.

As said earlier, do your due diligence before buying.

Thanks. No itís not boutique only, but Iím just surprised that it seems like he can get plenty and sell them at 22% less than the boutique. Where does he get them from?

What?...he loses his chance? I highly doubt it.

According to the OP, the seller would have to order one anyway.

Grand Seikos aren't that hard to get.

I had a great experience getting my Snowflake from ďThe Luxury WellĒ site. They come with full warranty just like the AD. Have good discounts and quite a few GS models in stock. A few that are very hard to find too.

Have you inquired with a Seiko AD to find out what price they can do.

I don't know which model you want, but Grand Seikos can be had at a discount.
