If/When you've had someone give a compliment/comment on your watch....

(while wearing it) was it one your watches with:

    - very large dial?
    - unconventional shape or design?
    - standout dial color (like bright yellow or orange)?
    - had a lot of complications or a busy dial?
    - other

Just curious. (only exception is if a supermodel gave you the compliment", in which case every detail needs to be explained in full)

Shiny case and bracelet. Don't think anything else gets noticed much.

Also had someone compliment my watch, so I took it off and handed it to him. He looked so confused I finally just put it back on and changed the subject.

Very rare to have a non-WIS comment on a watch. Usually something flashy to get a comment.

I was speaking at a seminar once and, to my surprise, a former colleague got up and spoke after me. I didn't know he was a scheduled speaker and I didn't know how well he presented. Afterward, I complimented him on his presentation, he complimented me on my watch, and I took the watch off, gave it to him and told him to keep it. He was pleasantly surprised and very grateful. It was tonneau shaped dress watch and on a pretty nice strap.

Other than that, I think the only other time that comes to mind is when I was wearing a skeletonized watch someone commented on it's uniqueness.

Bacari, that must have been some presentation!

I wear and have worn nice watches, but I have never received a compliment on my watch.

I have received many compliments on my presentations (I'm a professional explainer, an appreciated and rare skill amongst engineers), but nobody has ever given me a watch, heh.

Re: If/When you've had someone give a compliment/comment on your watch....

I've got a friend who isn't really a watch person but she ALWAYS looks to see what I'm wearing (and is disappointed when she sees me with the same watch on twice in a row). Her favorite is my Hamilton Ventura XXL Elvis, though she doesn't seem to like my standard Ventura all that much. It's design and, I think, size. I've gotten other compliments on that watch for design reasons as well, and one in a store from a clerk who owned a quartz Ventura and recognized it.

The only other watch anyone ever notices is my Pan Europ LE, but it is still new to me and I haven't entirely figured out what is responsible for initially catching the eye. Size? Color (very likely, as it's the most common follow-up comment)? Possibly it's just that non WIS aren't familiar with rally style straps? Honestly, I'm not overly concerned. It's a favorite piece and, even if it weren't, it's always pleasant when someone notices and takes the time to say something.

I had people complimented my Pams (92,292,372) and rolex exp ii on Nato

Pam 92 got a compliment because it's an old LE (2004) and mine is in good condition
Pam 292 because of its blackness
Pam 372 because its simple face
Rolex exp II on nato for its casual looks (oh,it's a rolex? Aren't they supposed to be on that metal bracelet thing?)

My Angular Momentum - Astrolabium, they just couldn't stop staring at it and it was the "lucky
    watch" at my former job.

I wear a Rolex Submariner almost every day . Nato's a lot but sometimes the rolex bracelet . Over a year now . Not once has anyone ever noticed the watch I wear . Which is fine for me, that's not the reason I wear it. I don't know why though . I am thinking that there isn't anything special about seeing this style watch because there are 100's or possibly 1000's of homage watches of the Submariner. I guess the average person can't tell the difference between a Rolex and a $10 Walmart watch . So if you are looking for compliments about your watch , stay away from a Rolex (Tudor) Sub.
