If you have to choose Patek...

Very Hard Decision please give me advices WUS

FIRST and may be ONLY Patek. Actually I consider purchasing watch look like those 2 below,

But the Budget problem is that If I buy this one I can hardly buy the other in next 5 or 10 years, or may be It will stay with me as the only watch that have "Patek Philippe" name on it.
Then what should I choose? The legendary Calatrava 5296 or a modern Iconic Nautilus 5711 - White ? (I prefer White Dial to Blue)

P/S: Yeah I know 5711 is about X2 the price of 5296G, but I really think Calatrava is classic and Iconic. You may can advice some other options in the same price range

The Nautilus--it has the Patek DNA both inside and outside--the Calatrava is no legend in my neck of the woods, just another very expensive but average looking timepiece (but I would never ever spend that kind of money for ANY watch).

The Calatrava is THE classic Patek and it will leave plenty of money for your next watch. Perhaps this?

Googled the prices and nearly burst out laughing.

Get a Royal Oak and a JLC master thin and forget these ludicrously priced and unremarkable alternatives.

if I had to take a Patek and couldn’t sell it, I’d get an aquanaut.

If I was going to buy a Patek it’d be the Nautilus.

+1 for the nautilus, the Calatrava looks nice but if I was going for an understated dressy look I’d rather get a grand seiko or an omega for a fraction of the price.

I haven't found a Patek that I would spend the $$$ they want on. I do have a VC and an AP and an FP Journe. The AP and the FPJ are selling for much more on the 2dary market than brand new. That was never my motive , but I find that dynamic interesting. Maybe I have good taste after all.

When I think of the Calatrava, I think of the 5119, or 5120 with the hobnail bezel. The 5296 is rather generic looking, and between that Calatrava and the Nautilus, I would definitely pick the Nautilus (although in blue as opposed to white).

Let your personal style dictate the choice. To me, they’re distinctly different in how and when I’d wear them...so I’d want the one I’d be most comfortable with on a regular basis. For me, it’d be the Nautilus hands down because I lean toward the casual.
