Help in buying a new watch from High Street Watch Sellers
This might be a strange one ... I've got an $8000 gift card to spend in a High Street Jeweller from the company I have been working for the last 10 years. So far so good...
I'm obviously not mad enough to get my watches from them, they are way to expensive plus I love the foreplay and hunting from my watches.
Cutting the short story, plan is to buy a new one from them and resell it for cash, take the hit and get a nice second hand Breitling Geneve 1970-1975 (picture below).

Any ideas/suggestions/thoughts on what watches from the High Street have a better chance to resell or what are people after general? My initial thoughts were Omega Seamaster Co-Axial or Breitling SuperOcean both within that budget and a higher rate or resell new with a loss in region of 30%? I can't get a Rolex...obviously!

    Any thoughts are welcome

On a voucher you will not get a discount, as after I was burgled a while ago the insurance company paid me with vouchers and I paid full retail for the replacement watches.

Cant you pick a watch that you want to keep with the money from your voucher??

Seems daft to lose 33% of your bonus overnight.

Passing up an $8K "something" to buy a used Breitling at a major loss makes no sense whatsoever--surely you can find a great new watch at your price point that will be better than the used Breitling you are considering. Not sure what you meant by your statement about Rolex, but I would get a Rolex Air King, or depending on prices and availability, an Oyster Perpetual, possibly even an Explorer 1--in my neck of the woods all can be had for $8K or less, new.

    Thanks for the reply.

Sorry to hear you were burgled, nasty thing. Painful, but I will have to take this one in the chin as I can稚 justify going home with another expensive watch, without risking to sleep on the sofa for the next week ??.

I was thinking P.O. over Breitling, seems like a lot of folks prefer Omega over Breitling

Timefleas I知 not trying to buy an used Breitling, I知 trying to convert a gift card into cash with minimum damage. And then perhaps buy a 」1000-」1500 watch

Buy a Rolex Submariner. Easy to sell and wont take a big hit.

Can you buy Tudor with the vouchers? Black Bays will retain a lot of the value if you sell on.

The IWC Mark XVIII is a good shout too.

    Omega Speedmaster Professional also.

    Is it 」8k or $8k?
