I'm not into chronos...I'm stumped on this one...

So Knowing that I am into watches my father over thanksgiving asked me some suggestions on what watch to buy next. He wants a chronograph around 40 to 42mm, auto, Usually wears a leather strap and he really likes the tachymeter function. He would like to have this be somewhat affordable at under 1k. Usually when someone asks me for ideas on watches I overwhelm them with options, this time however I was stumped. First thing that came to mind was Hamilton and tissot. I have looked a little but I cant really find anything so far. I know you guys could point me in the right direction as I know some of you are very into chronos. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Tachy is not a must, he just enjoys it, I think that one is hand wind, I don't know how he feels about that but the more I look the more I feel he should just save up and get a used speedy before they are ridiculously priced. Everything I'm seeing is pricy and unprofound.

It's hard to fault a Speedy.

I don't think he is into spending a couple k on a watch tho, no mater how much I persuade him unfortunately. For his birthday I was going to get him a laco or steinhardt flieger but since he mentioned the chrono I'm looking at those now.

There is an Eterna NIB which has been for sale for quite a while on another forum. List ~$5k current ask is under $750. I'd take a look at it. Most likely much better quality than anything else your going to find going for under $1K. Use Elitedealseeker to find it.

Hi, have you looked at chronographs by Longinnes? I personally like the Zenith El Primero 1/1000th, but they are very pricey ~6k-8K. Also are you looking for an automatic or quartz chronograph? I think finding a quality automatic chronograph <=$1k might be hard.
