    India refurbished Seiko

I want to add a Seiko automatic to my collection. Something for casual everyday wear - nothing fancy. I've been combing thru the countless refurbished Seiko 5 vintage pieces listed on eBay from sellers in India. The sellers typically have strong feedback scores with significant transaction counts. Often, the auction for any given watch expires without a single bid. It would be simple to pick one up for about $30 delivered to my door.

Has anyone here purchased one off these watches? If so, what was your experience? There's so many different designs listed I'm actually having a difficult time narrowing the ones I like it down to a single purchase. These are some that I am considering.

Beware of India, there's a lot of rubbish that comes out of there with generally bad redials and franken innards.

    Personally I wouldn't, even for $30

They vary from non-working to excellent. One of my favourite ever buys is this Lumibrite, £50 from India, works perfect.

If you understand that you are getting a refurbished watch that may be constructed from unrelated parts and the total price is reasonable then go ahead and enjoy it. Be sure to buy from someone with a lot of feedback and pay with a credit card through Paypal.

Roll of the dice. My experience with them was garbage that was repaired properly over here in the states. Lots of dirt, loose and adhered, some not able to be cleaned. Missing paint from the dial, rattly. Looked to have been worked on in someone's garden. If you MUST have one, do as John posted above and keep your expectations low.
Thank you, I'm flattered, but, please don't click any "Likes" for me (unless there's a prize for "most likes")?

I would quicker buy from the Phillipines than from India (though one may be just as bad as the other).

As stated, as long as you know what you are getting, go for it.

Well, on the plus side, you will likely get a watch that is unique. Like in, it doesn't exist anywhere else (because most of them are frankenwatches).

Given you can get a new Seiko 5 for $100-$150, I'd rather that route. If you go vintage, get an original one. Makes the "hunt" more exciting, and when you find what you want, more satisfying.
