    Information on the Certina 28503.27

    Hi there,

    I am hoping somebody out there could give me some information on this model (28503.27) by Certina, anything would be appreciated.

    I can post a photo if that would help, just ask.

    Thanks,
    Luck.

    Pics would help (dial, back and movement) but based on the ref.no. I conclude it is a vintage one ? 1950 to 1960 app ?
    Other than that I have no clue.
    Kind regards
    Mike

    Hi Mike, thanks for the reply.

    Sorry I can not get a pic of the movement as I don't have the correct tool to remove the back without damaging it. Here is the back and front though.

    Yes, you are right about it being vintage, I found a little info on an auction site and it said 1955.

    Thanks for the pics. Movement might be an inhouse Certina 28-451 with specs as follows:

    Diameter = 28.0mm
    Height = 6.55mm
    21 jewels (there has been one with 23 as well)
    b/h = 18000 A/h
    power reserve of about 42h
    Kind regards
    Mike

    Thank you for that.

    At the moment it is working fine. Does the holder of the power reserve ever need replacing? It is anything like a rechargeable battery that loses its charge capacity over time?

    Regards,
    Luck

    Your watch has a coiled spring inside which is wound, then releases its energy driving the hands telling the time.

    It may get dirt in the movement or it may dry up which could affect accuracy/power reserve longevity, but a service by a watchmaker should bring it back in line.
