    iPhone Wallpaper

For any of you out there that have an iPhone, here is a nice wallpaper that I found.

    Can anyone identify the movement!!!

So what difference does it make, whether it's 20 minutes or 20 years, since neither amounts to the faintest echo of the tiniest whisper in the thunder of time.

If you don't get an answer on this thread about the movement, try another with Movement ID Help in the title.

    Definitely not a Rolex movement.
    Simplicity, an encapsulation of complexity.

Your wish is my command! After I found that wallpaper above, I figured out that there is no reason why I can't make my own wallpapers. All I needed was some sharp straight on pictures of the movements. And that is the problem. There are not too many movement pictures around like that.

But I found a photographic artist who actually made a book of exactly these kinds of photographs. His name is Guido Mocafico and the name of his book is "Movements" which is available from Amazon here. Looks like a really nice book and I think I might even buy one. There are a number of pictures that are truly beautiful. I especially like the AP and the Chopard. And the amount of finishing work done to a Patek movement is very obvious.

Guido (love that name!) also has a web site here displaying some examples of the movements he photographed. One of his pictures is a Lange movement. From his web site [ http://www.guidomocafico.com/mo11.html ]:

    Pretty shiny sparkly!

I didn't look up the precise measurement supported, but the original wallpaper I put up used an image size of 250 x 375. So cropping Guido's picture to these measurements gives you a nice wallpaper:

Copyright issues. The original image is (C)opyrighted 2006 by Guido Mocafico. Fair Use allows the use of Copyrighted material for education, research, and scholarship. We all are a bunch of scholarly WISers and I am educating you on how to create a wallpaper and not charging you a fee of any sort. Guido made a very nice book however so you should consider buying the book if you find his photographs of interest.
