    I've had a bad day...

Sorry if this is an indulgent post, but I'm interested in what others have done in my situation.

So I got home from work this evening around 8pm to find that my house had been burglarized. The usual stuff was taken - TVs, laptop computer (they didn't take my desktop, though, which is what I'm typing this on), stereo, etc. And, last but not least, my entire watch collection. I didn't have anything in my collection that was worth much, but there's obviously a lot of sentimental value to everyone's collection.

    So, my question is two-fold:

    1) Has this ever happened to you?
    2) How did your collecting habits change as a result? Is there anything you replaced right away?
    Warmest regards,

    Aaron

Wow. Sorry to hear that. Really sucks. Never had it happen but suggest you visit our stolen watch forum and get your items listed there so we can all keep an eye out.
Hope everything works out for the best.

My condolences - seriously. That is an unimaginably bad thing to have happen. I have not had that happen (yet?).

Ah. Sorry mate. I hope you have insurance. Even then it's still an enormous hassle.

I've been through that. Nothing too sentimental taken thankfully. I now have a safe bolted to the floor for valuables.

    Best of luck.

    Bloody low-life scumbags.

You might want check your local pawnshops, in case the crooks try to sell your stuff.

Very sorry to hear it. I've never had my house broken into, but when I lived in Chicago my car would be broken into regularly. Really pissed me off. I chased down a thief one time- probably not smart, but I was pissed. Did it change my habits? Well, with the car, I left the thing unlocked with signs on it telling the *ricks to please not break the windows, just open the door and take what they wanted. I'm not sure what I would have done if I had a gun at the time... terrible, but that's the way I feel about it.

    Sorry dude.

Thanks. Yep, I'll be making the rounds at the pawn shops on Friday.

Very sorry to hear, I hope karma returns to the lowlife scumbags, soon.

Something else to consider, if you had any personal finance info on that laptop, I suggest notifying your bank (s) asap
