    I'd pick the Zenith.

    Tough choice.
I like both makers, BUT-I would have the Zenith before the IWC.

i like the in-house, but love the blue portuguese look. i think watches are like people. what is on the inside is important, but how they look on the outside matters more.

In-house movement + full chronograph capabilities = winner, for me. The Port Chrono can time to all of thirty minutes? I'll have the Zenith, please.

Re: IWC Portuguese Chrono vs. Zenith Captain Chrono

The Portuguese looks like a dinner plate to me, the blued hands are nice (they seem way too played out in too many watches in the recent past), but a thermal-purple would be nicer. The half-eaten numbers aren't helping either.

The Zenith's design is ok, but pretty conventional, and an El Primero needs the date at 4:30! Give me one of the original El Primero vintages from 1969-1973 (preferably an A386, A3818 or an A781). Ok, I'd even take a Class IV or Port Royal V (or Chronomaster/Chronomaster moonphase).

Im such a shill for Zenith. But I do love those blue hands on the IWC. I go Zenith. It has a date window to boot.

The IWC looks better and the El Primero is a more exciting movement. If judging based on aesthetics, pick IWC. If judging based on provenance/ horological significance/ value per dollar- go with Zenith.

Re: IWC Portuguese Chrono vs. Zenith Captain Chrono

I may be wrong, but I think the Zenith is a column wheel chrono as opposed to the modified 7750 in the IWC. That and the nicely placed date on the Zenith vs. no date on the IWC make that watch an easy choice for me.
