Jewelry Stores and Big Box Retailers

So after deciding which watch I wanted I logically went to the above mentioned locations and tried to find my specific watch (Citizen JY0075-54E). After going to about 3 retailers I noticed that each location carried the exact same inventory +/- 1 or 2 here and there. How do you guys try on your watches, or do you even try them on? Seems like really you will be buying most of these watches sight unseen so to speak. Just curious

Sorry I do not understand your post or your question?

Yes, Citizen as well as Seiko and others have regional marketing and sell the same pieces everywhere.

If I see one I am interested in, I try it on.

My question is what do you do if none of the retailers have the watch you are looking for?

In my case, I don't buy. I only buy what I have seen, touched and tried on.

Will retailers order a watch for you to try on or are you SOL

Mail order or sales forums. Most of what I've wanted hasn't been available from any local brick 'n mortar stores. Some have offered to order something for me if I pay for it sight unseen, but why bother with that? Might as well try to find someone else who has it in stock or try to find the best price if it needs to be special ordered.

I pretty much know what I like and do plenty of research before I decide to buy it. I may not always keep a new watch for very long, but that's never been because the watch wasn't what I expected when it arrived. A quick flip is more often because something else catches my eye and I need to make some room in the old watch box.

I cant speak for every dealer and every brand, but I was looking at Breitling once and my dealer told me she would order one for me to look at if I wanted, no strings attached.

I've only bought one watch from a bricks and mortar store. I researched every other purchase thoroughly enough to be comfortable buying via the internet.

If there're an AD, it's no big deal in ordering a watch.
