Picture Just another state of the collection - 1,000 posts

So I've been a member of WUS for quite a while now and, while I haven't been the most active member I think I've been involved in a lot and certainly learned quite a bit. I originally joined with the purely selfish reasons of trying to unload a watch that an ex had gifted me and what I found was a community and a hobby that would consume a lot of time and disposable income in the subsequent 4 years.

My watch passion really started on my 18th birthday when my parents gifted me a quartz Tag, I loved it and wore it all through college. Once I graduated is when this hobby went into overdrive. With my new job I treated myself to not one but two "graduation" presents, a used Omega SMP and a Frederique Constant, in addition to the Stowa that was my grad present from my parents. Since then, I've accumulated more, some have been keepers like my Nomos, some have not, like my SeaGull 1963 or the recently departed RGM.

Overall, Im getting very satisfied with my collection. I've been fortunate to procure a watch box from Rainer Schuster which has led me to a mental limit of 8 watches. As I get close to hitting that point I'll be swapping and upgrading some of the pieces, others will stay for a long time.

Here they are in order of purchase:

I decided it was time to treat the lady to a Frederique Constant, she wanted a gold watch. - also not in the watchbox.

Great post and thanks for sharing. Ironically, I'm in a very similar boat to you. Same city, join date, and evolution of the collection. I've recently sold off a lot of watches to attain a couple of nicer pieces. I've always had a hard time selling, but it felt good. I also now feel like I'm where I want to be and feel very satisfied. I could probably downsize my watch box at some point too:) Looks like you might have also been into knife collecting at some point too? Love the Nomos! Congrats on a great collection

Amazing, dare I say fashionable, collection. But you know you want to make room for an RL... You know you do.

We both know I do. If I could get my finances up to par for that RL of yours I'd be on it in a heart beat! As of now it's still sitting in an eTrade account awaiting more dividends...

I was into knives for a long time too. Gave it up for watches since they were more practical on a daily basis. I'm scared to think of what could me next I just got a nice camera last year and I heard that can be deadly addictive and expensive hobby too

Nice story to how it all begins. Especially like your FC & Longines. Wear them in good health for a long time.
