    just one "almost stupid" question

    Hi,

Few days ago I traded one of my watches for Eberhard 8 days with roman numbers dial.

Looking at the dial,I noticed that number 4 is written with 4 lines ( IIII ) instead IV ( as you may find and as you may know, roman number 4 is written IV )....

Looking at my Christie's and Sotheby's catalogs I see that all watches that have roman number's on their dial have the same thing....

I would like to know why?

    thanx in advance

Look at the 4 hours position

    Roman numbers
