British watchmaker Kennett has a design philosophy to create stylish designs at affordable prices without compromising on quality. The brand came to life in 2010 when a year earlier founder 28 year old Tom Kennett was searching for a suitable watch for his father’s 60th birthday. In the end he created his own, The Savro, which takes its inspiration from London’s famed centre of bespoke tailoring, Savile Row, and the brand has grown from there.
Kennett sources from select international suppliers seeking out the finest materials including mother of pearl, ceramic, high grade 316 stainless steel and coatings. These timepieces and their components are assembled by fully qualified technicians. Design, final quality checks, distribution and repairs are all undertaken at Kennett’s British headquarters in Glasgow. An entry level Kennett watch is from between £125 to £180, while the top of the range is between £2,000 to £5,000.
Like Britain’s answer to fashion designer Michael Kors, Tom Kennett also has plans to expand the brand into other categories such as Eyewear, Leather luggage & accessories and aftershave. Kennett iPhone cases are already being offered.
Today Kennett markets a wide range of watches for both men and women with hundreds of slight variations in the colour of the face, dial and strap. The Kennett brand has managed to establish a firm foothold in the UK, and is slowly gathering momentum abroad, picking up the occasional celebrity fan along the way including actor Gerard Butler who also wears a Savro.
