Kobold v. The Rock - Success! Finish time 1:54!

My first aim was to complete the swim, my second was to break two hours. I am proud to have accomplished both. My finish time was 1:54. The beach was filled with family and friends. It was an unforgettable experience. I'm so thankful to have participated in this swim. The conditions were good at the start but were really challenging as we rounded Alcatraz. I'll write a full report soon! Thank you for sharing this experience with me.

It was so awesome to have worn the Kobold on the swim. It was wrist inspiration throughout the race as I checked my progress. I pushed really hard on this one and part of my motivation was checking in with you guys. Thanks again to Kobold and this awesome community.

    Finally, race day!

    My 2-year old felt warm.

The start - I'm in the back of the pack, but not for long!

The group leaving the protection of the cove. I respect each and every one of these swimmers.

The line of kayaks is our route out to Alcatraz.

    Me coming in.

Standing after a 2 hour swim.

Congrats from my 5 year old.

All smiles. . . notice the Kobold!

The only thing that can stop a Kobold. . . hitting the pusher with numb fingers!

    Happy.

    Family.

Hope you enjoy the pictures. What do you think?

Fantastic achievement! I've done the boat ride out to Alcatraz and back, and can truly appreciate how in shape and resilient you need to be to complete a swim like that. What's next? How about a trip to my home country and the English Channel?

    Kev -

Congrats to you and your family for the completion. The hard work that went in to it is a tribute to the dedication that you have as well as a tribute to the support you got from your family. The best pics was you holding your son and your family - showing how proud they were - and all of us - are of you.

    Kev,

Congratulations on a tremendous achievement. Perhaps Mike Kobold will reward your outstanding accomplishment with that fine watch.

My heartfelt congratulations to you, Kevin! You've really done something to make yourself and your family proud -- now go and eat a bacon cheesburger, veg out in front of the telly, and sleep in for a week.

But seriously, way to go buddy. You're an inspiration to us all. I've been training for a triathalon with a friend of mine for the past four months to celebrate my recovery from open-heart surgery (though when that triathalon will take place is anyone's guess ), and reading your progress as you trained for this grueling event has strenthened my resolve to see this through.

    Maybe.

    Regards,
    Adam

PS - So, are you going to give back the watch, or claim you got mugged on your way home from the swim?
