    Learning about watch movements

Hi, this is my first posting here. Can anyone point me in the direction of information or tutorials on mechanical watch movement types. By this I mean i'd like to learn and understand the difference between, for example, a Valjoux 7750 and an ETA 2824 and the various derivatives. When I see the mainspring, the escapement or the balance wheel etc. what should i be looking at in terms of understand its function and how it differs from other movements. I know most of this comes with study etc but I'd like a place to start.

Just do a search and ignore what the ETA bashers have to say.
