i decided today was the day to buy the 36mm blue Rolex OP. my AD phoned me a few weeks ago to say they got one in.
on the way, i stopped at the Cartier store, to try on a Santos. perhaps they were put off by my shorts, t-shirt, and backpack, because only the security guy paid any attention to me.
next was the Rolex AD. aaaand they sold the OP. i had also mused about the black 36mm OP, but that was not in stock. i also noted that since i was last there, they sold the A. Lange Datograph. so someone made a nice commission.
i then stopped by the Mont Blanc store, which had been closed all summer for renovations. looks like they forgot to put back most of the watches since re-opening.
so i then went to the jeweler from whom i bought a Hamilton last year. they *did* have the Heritage Chronometrie that i had been eyeing.
i had no intention of buying it, but decided to tell them that, if they let me have it for a stupidly low price, i'd take it home. One manager chat and phonecall to the owner later, they agreed to my stupidly low offer (!!!!). so clearly i had to buy it.
so now i have a proper dresswatch! it's also my first manual wind.
finally, the gods must have been smiling today, because on a busy saturday afternoon on my way home, i got my own streetcar.
