Longines Hydro Conquest v/s Tag Heuer Formula 1

    Hi All,

I am new to the forum, and to buying "valuable" watches. I rarely wear a watch (yes that makes me quite odd!) and am struggling to make a decision.

I need to buy a watch for my brother-in-law who has just achieved something. He is brand conscious, so brand perception would definitely be a factor. Besides, I know he wanted a watch with a blue dial for sometime. So I'm stuck between the Longines Sport Hydro Conquest and Tag Heuer Formula 1.

Any opinions on these 2 watches, or suggestions around this price point would be immensely useful.

    Thanks a ton in advance.

    Cheers

For gifting, unless you know the recipient is a WIS (Watch Idiot Savant... basically a total watch nerd), brand recognition is everything, and TAG simply has better brand recognition than Longines. IMO. If they've heard of it, they'll think it's more upmarket.

Brand recognition wise to a normal person: Go for the tag heuer over Longines

I like the quality and feel of the hydro conquest over the f1. But to beat both maybe you should check the aquaracer line.

    Welcome to the forums!

I would try to get some more information on Exactly what he wants other than just a blue dial.

I'm not sure what you mean by "I'm stuck between these two."

Go with the Tag. More recognizable, and (I suspect, tbh) a slightly nicer watch. From what I've read around here, longines conquest divers are not all that impressive in the metal.

Like Chris Stark said, try to get more info. If you go for a Tag take a look at WAN2111. Not sure about that two tone Longines. I'd go all stainless on that watch.

Having sold both brands, Longines are much "nicer".

Well, TAG pushers tend to fall off more than most brands brand and stripping with screw down crowns is above average.
