    Longines Istituto Idrografico R. Marina

    The Longines "Sport Legends" line this year lauched a homage of a wrist chronograph which originally was designed in 1938 for the carthographers of the Italian Navy Hydrographic Institute.

    Specs:
    + automatic movement L651.3, 12 ½ lignes, 37 jewels, 28,800 b/h, 42-hour power reserve (base ETA 2894-2)
    + 316L case, 40 mm diameter, wr to 30 m
    + "Hesalit" crystal
    + back engraved with "Istituto Idrografico R. Marina"
    + dial in black lacquer, arabic numerals and blued hands coated with SL and stamed with "Istituto Idrografico R. Marina"
    + bracelet/strap red-brown alligator with buckle

    Price tag: Don´t know yet.

    Maybe I should forget the Laco LE ! This is a really nice watch! Except the yellow lume. Nice retro look!
    Mike, I am very pleased you explained the yellow lume on the Laco LE thread.
    I would not have been happy with it!

    Mike-Is the $$$$$ range even afforable?
    Hesalit" crystal? is that replacing sapphire?

    If vintage watches tended towards 40mm I would seriously begin pursuing some pieces I have seen. This piece would certainly satisfy my urge to acquire the look of vintage in a size more appropriate to the size of my wrists and hands. Although I don't normally like chronographs this one looks good to me. Please keep us posted on pricing.

    I like the watch but the color for the numbers really suck.
