    Looking for a new watch!

    Hi guys!

I'm looking for a first decent watch to buy, but so far haven't found what I'm looking for.
My long list of demands in a watch:

    - Pricing: about 200- 600 euro ( 270 - 800 dollar)
    - Dressy ( but ok for daily wear)
    - No chronograph.Optionally moonphase ( although that would be difficult in this pricing) or date.
    - No small second hand( optionally)
    - Leather strap
    - Open caseback
    - Preferably hand winding, although an automatic one is also good ( I like the sight of a hand winding movement and wouldn't mind the winding)
    - Preferably stainless steel
    - +- 40mm
    - White, grey, black or silver dial
    - slight preference for roman numerals, although this depends on the model as well

One example of a watch I like, however slightly more expensive, with a small second hand and without date:

    Louis Erard 1931 Small Second

If you need to know anything else, ask away.
So, can anyone help me ?
    Thanks!

Sorry - do you want a date or not? And no second hand?

    Cheers

Hi PD, look at the Tissot range. It's vast, I know, but there might just be something there that suits you.

I'd rather have one with a date, although that's not absolutely necessary. And a big second hand preferably ( so no small second ).

And Tissot indeed has some nice watches in this price range, but they only have 8 hand winding ones. And none of these fit my preferences ( too expensive and very different from what I'm looking for).

The best dressy handwinding watch in this price range that I can think of is the Beijing Behai. It's a beautiful watch with a gorgeous display back. However, it does have small seconds (I think you were implying you don't want this?)http://www.good-stuffs.com/Beijing-B...ch_p_73.htmlIf you are open to an automatic, for great value check out Seiko Sarb 065, Tissot Visodate, and anything you like from Stowa.

Also look at the Citizen Grand Signature collection. Meets most of your needs.

Almost any Seiko SARB, also many Orients, possibly all Gerlachs. Orient will certainly sell you a moonphase watch inside your budget:

One of our members, Watchma, has one of these:

He mentions it in this thread:

    https://forums.watchuseek.com/f2/look...ch-757923.html

Seems to fit your requirements > Dressy/casual, 40mm, manual wind, date, central seconds, steel and leather, display back & within your budget. No roman numerals but I think it's a very good looking watch.
