Looking for Opinions - Stowa Flieger or Omega Railmaster

    Hey guys,

I'm a little green here, and I could use some help in making a decision.

I love Omega watches (I know that they're a little too mainstream for some, but I always thought of them as nice, understated watches. If you know watches, you respect it. If you don't know watches, you might think "that's a nice watch" but wouldn't necessarily think "who does this guy think he is?"

At any rate, I had been wanting a pilot's watch for some time and got my name on the list for a Stowa Flieger without Logo (still haven't gotten the "ready for pay" email yet, but it's due in the next few weeks). BUT, I also love the Omega Railmaster (discontinued now, as I understand). I found a new one locally on a brown strap, and every time I put it on, it just feels right.

My wife, God bless her, has allowed me many of my vices (stereo equipment, new and vintage, pipe smoking in the house, etc.), but she has made a rule that I may buy only one more watch before finishing residency, whether that's a Stowa or the Railmaster (big price difference, I know).

So (if you made it this far, thank you), what do you all think - Omega Railmaster or Stowa Flieger without Logo?

    Thanks in advance.

Only you can make this decision! You have to go with the one YOU like the looks of best! But if it were my decision, I'd be all over that Railmaster!!! HaHa I've loved that watch since I first laid eyes on it, it is just beautiful....Classy. I'm a little biased though, I've never owned a Stowa (although there are very nice!) but I have owned 3 Omegas, 2254.50 Seamaster Pro, and 2 Planet Oceans. (still have the PO XL)

Let us know what you decide and be sure to post pictures when it arrives! Good luck!

Omega if it's got a Swiss lever escapement. Otherwise I'd rather the Stowa.

    Co-axial bashing? Huh.

I like the Railmaster a lot.

This thread needs pics. I like both watches you are thinking about but I'd personally prefer the Railmaster:

Probably depends what else you already have though. The railmaster is classy andcasual IMO. If you already have something like that then the Airman might be the way to go.

I'd say get the Omega Railmaster, as long as price isn't an issue.

Kind of apple vs. pear. If it comes down to a Flieger the Railmaster does not fit the remit (my take at lest). IWC would fit better.
    Kind regards

I probably like the Stowa a little better, but I think of their flieger as more of a pure sport watch. The Railmaster is great as well and could probably be strectched to function as a dressier watch if that's something you need. If you do need vesatility and having an exceptionally high quality flieger interests you then Mike's right; IWC’s Mark XVl is tough to beat – particularly the Spitfire.

I was just stating my preference for a certain type of escapement. I had no intention to offend those who admire the co-ax. Ciao.

Two great watches. What makes this especially poignant is that this is your last watch purchase. At least I think that's what I read. Anyway, I am about to receive my first "real" watch after more than a year of obsession on WUS and it is going to be a Stowa. That said, I think the Railmaster is one gorgeous hunk of watch. And if I thought I had one watch left to buy and it was between the Stowa and the RM I'd go RM.
