Looking for a Vintage Watch with budget of $1000

I'm looking for suggestions for a vintage (50s-70s) watch for around $1000 with the following qualities:

--diver credible, but without the bulky aesthetic of a modern dive watch
    --38-40mm
    --domed sapphire
    --not a rolex homage

Curious what you come up with! Thanks!

There are plenty of vintage options, many brands made a diver that suits your specs, but they will be domed acrylic not sapphire.

agreed with the above - domed sapphire on a vintage diver under 1000$ is impossible. You can find flat (or slightly domed) sapphire on 2nd hand divers (non-vintage) under 1000$

A non-bulky diver? That means no Seiko chronos - bullheads etc, or Heuer chronos. Not sure...maybe ask in vintage?

You won't have to spend $1,000 to get a nice vintage diver. Back then a dive watch would be 36 to 38mm diameter and would have had the more practical and durable acryllic crystal. Check out watches like Aquastar Atoll and Jenny Carribbean.

What is now called the longines legend diver.

Search on "compressor" or "super compressor" - these were the case styles popular for these kinds of divers back in the day.
