    Re: Malfunction of Hacking Function

I don't think so. He claimed that he would get back to me in two weeks after he sends it for repairs to his watch repair guy.
So far, it seems to be a dodgy deal so far. I would like to think that he would refund me the remaining 10% since I have the box and warranty card with me. I have tried to negotiate with him that he should split the servicing fee with me but he refused.

Sounds good to me but hopefully there would be no more problems after I get back the watch!

How could he have your watch repaired without the warranty card ?

Probably by a local watchmaker ?

The watch is 9 yo, it needs serviced, not just the hacking lever patched.

He told me that he would be sending the watch to his watch guy to fix it.
I wanted a full refund but he told me that is impossible to do that as he alrdy sold the watch to me. He even claimed that he was doing me a goodwill by repairing the watch without charging me.
Now, I can only hope that the watch comes back without any significant problems b4 I send it for a full servicing.

Did you ask the seller whether his watch guy is trained for servicing a Co-ax movement ? I've heard that the Co-ax needs some special tools and oiling skill.

I'm not sure I would trust the guy to fix a wheel barrow! Giving you the run around if you ask me, send it to Omega and have it done proper. Then you will know it is ready for a lifetime of enjoyment, I think it would be worth the extra expense.

Do you plan on keeping the watch for a while? If so, send it to an authorized repair centre or use a specialist with a good reputation like Al Archer (in fact, use Al Archer). If you're not sure about keeping the watch for at least a good 5-10 years, let the seller service it and then flip it in a year or two.

On a watch like that I would want to be in control of who did the work.

I plan to keep the watch for a long time, so I will send it for a full service once I get it back.
On hindsight, I should not even trust the seller at all. This is my worst experience of buying an used watch so far!
The only comforting thing is that I got back 90% refund of the watch. If he turns out to be a rogue seller, I will not take back the watch and not return him the box and warranty card. Hopefully that will bring down the selling price of the watch if he decides to resell it again!

So you've already received this payment?

    That's encouraging.

Was this payment you received cash? Bank transfer? Card credit? Check? Other?

I have received cash from the seller. Hopefully the seller fulfils his promise to fix the watch and not create more problems!
