    Maranez Help

    Hi all

A while back I got this watch. I was told it was bronze. But all I see on their web site is brass.

How can I be sure what it is?

Also does anyone know what model it is?

    Thanks

As far as i Can remember, they never made their watches in bronze. Brass only. Not sure about that model.

That's a Maranez Karon Brass. See Maranez.com -> Special Offer.

Maranez never made any bronze watches, to the best of my knowledge.

The question remains, why does it matter? Two types of bronze watch cases can differ more from each other than brass differs from bronze. It's just a historical coincidence that copper + zinc is called brass, while copper + anything else is called bronze, no matter if that other component is tin, aluminum, or whatever..

    Exactly.
Either material will develop a patina over time. The o.p. could uncover his watch to speed that process.

    ^^ This.

That Karon looks brand new! It's super cool to see the development over time. Here is my 6 years old (brass) Maranez Layan on a (bronze) ship propeller.

Brass will get a great patina over time.

Nice shot. Not forcing the patina but just letting it evolve from being worn gives a pleasing effect.
