mido baroncelli vs mido baroncelli big date

Who has seen both? Which one do you perfer? What are your opinions on the mido baroncelli big date. I like the regular baroncelli alot but the big date intrigues me.

I have seen both at the AD. Yes, the Baroncelli is intriguing, However, I found its location at the 6 o'clock position to be a distraction
to the overall aesthetics of the dial; and, I would question its long term appeal for a dial that is not as cluttered.

My preference would go with the classic aesthetics of the new Baroncelli Caliber 80 Chronometer Silicon.

Do you prefer date at 3 or at 6, with center seconds? In most cases, you'll get a better vertical symmetry by having it at 6.

That said: I also like an asymmetric big date at 1:30 or 4:30, when the text is separate. Or with a subdial seconds at 6, the date at 1:30, works fairly well.

I'm also assuming you're not talking about the Baroncelli II's that had the date at 4...

But....the Big Date variants are all using the 6-series iterations; the 8-series is where the later movements with silicon parts are, IIRC.

Oh, and if you're looking for slim, certain of the Baroncelli Heritage models are where that's at...they've got Mido-tagged 2892s. The Big Date is 10.4 mm tall; the 2892 Heritage is 7. Yes, I like slim.

I've tried both in the store. The big date was underwhelming, mainly because of two reasons:
    - the date window is plain without any decoration, so it has no presence compared to the indices.
    - there are only a white and a light grey dial available.

I'm a big-date fan, so it's an easy choice. I also prefer applied markers over printed versions.

On a watch like that, I would prefer no date at all, so, between the two, I would take the one with the more discrete date--the regular Baroncelli.

The big date looks better on the Commander. The big date is rather new for Mido, so it might be worth waiting for future models.

Both are nice, but if it has to have a date wheel, I would prefer it at 3:00.
