Mido Multifort and a Tourneau Repair

First, I hope this is the correct place to post this. I’m a little surprised there isn’t a Mido specific forum area, but please move if this is in the wrong area.

I picked up this beautiful black and orange Mido Multifort automatic some weeks back on eBay, and it was to be my first auto watch purchase. It wasn’t on my wish list, but the color combination is very striking (in addition to being very easy to read) and the dial is very unique and eye catching. I immediately knew that was a watch I wanted for weekend work,

As soon as the price was right, I bit. There is one visible scratch on the bezel, but the remainder of the watch is clean and it keeps great time. The only problem with the watch was that the screw down crown wouldn’t engage the case. I can’t say if the seller didn’t mention the defect or if it broken during shipping, but a few days after getting the watch, I was handing it over to Tourneau for a repair. To the sellers credit, he did refund the cost to repair, so I wasn’t out the cost, just the time for repair.

I dropped off the watch on March 24th, and picked it up yesterday, six weeks later. Tourneau wasn’t able to fix the watch themselves, so they send it back to the factory, which I assume added some time to the repair. Overall, I’m very happy with the service, I’m sure I could have found someone local to do it cheaper, but the whole process was very transparent and they always kept me informed. If you don’t have a local option, I highly recommend them.

Since dropping off my Mido, I picked up an Oris and Maurice Lacroix, but after picking it up yesterday, I really do love this watch. It wears very comfortable and the look is very unique (the Multifort dial is amazing to stare at).

Now to customize with a new strap...

Nice one. I like the orange version myself, though it's all hard to find on the used market, I'd absolutely get that chronograph, if it wasn't 44mm...
