    Moon watch ???

Itís the first time in 35 years a blue moon has synced up with a supermoon and a total lunar eclipse SO what do you all think of the lunar complication and which brand does it best?

Iíve picked up three of my favorites from the showcase but the floor is yours...

    Enjoy the view tonight all!

    Mike

The GO Panomatic does it pretty well

Moonphase is quite possibly the most pointless of complications of them all. Atleast in some cases they are designed to go with the overall look. Sarpaneva and Ochs come to mind, JLC MUTM and GO Panomatic to a lesser extent. Most of them are basically checking off a box

Iíve (Mike) always been a bit of a sap about the moon phase.

I agree that itís not a function Iíll use too often but the mechanics of it, the romanticism of why itís used in a timepiece and the overall aesthetic is brilliant.

    But great point of view!

    Thanks

    Mike

Arnold & Son, of course. With Schaumburg close behind (at a very different price stratum).

    Moon watch ???

I always refer to the Arnold and Son Perpetual Moon when I think of beautiful Moon phases:

Or the Martin Braun Selene Meteorite:

Or the latest incarnation of Martin Braun... Schaumburg Galaxy Moon:

And maybe the new Rolex Cellini Moonphase would get a nod from me:

I am not sure I totally agree with this statement. I think the moonphase complication can be one of the more beautiful additions to a watch dial. If you extend this logic, one could argue that, in this age, watches themselves are pointless complications.

In my opinion the tourbillon is the most pointless complication for a wristwatch. It was originally designed for use on a pocket watch that would spend most of its time in a pocket. Not on the constant movement of a wrist. That being said, people buy them because of the complexity.

A moonphase is somewhat more useful. Aesthetically pleasing to boot.
