    Moonphase for southern hemisphere?

Looking for a moonphase that shows the moon the way we see it down here (Australia). Have been looking for a while but can't seem to find anything. Would prefer quartz and around $1000 but not fussy at this stage.

I wouldn't know of such a watch, but look on the bright side, our air is cleaner and we'd be one of the last countries to go in a nuclear war.
I'm content with my watch collection

Hmmm...Proper moon phase complication or evaporation by nuclear annihilation. That's an interesting trade-off I imagine few have pondered.

That's not true WnS, I saw the Mad Max movies!!! :D

But it's an interesting question, are there any watches that address those who live in the Southern Hemisphere?

To be fair there is such a watch - you can get it in northern or southern hemisphere set up - A. Lange & Söhne Luna Mundi
    But at around $65K...

Perhaps you could just wear your watch face down on your wrist, so you see the moon complication from the back? Or maybe look at it in a mirror?

Darn, it just doesn't seem fair, does it? Of course I'm left handed so I'm used to such things.

Hey, if I move to Oz, would I be right handed? That would be neat!

On the other hand . . . I can wear another watch!

    Re: Moonphase for southern hemisphere?

To display the moonphase for the southern hemisphere correctly, you need to be able to reverse the direction of rotation on the moonphase disk by adding an additional gear (or more), which is the option that Lange took for their Grand Lange 1 Luna Mundi.

THE GRAND LANGE 1 LUNA MUNDI: A SHORT PRESENTATION

Mechanism for Southern Hemisphere (notice the additional gear near the central hands)

    Mechanism for Northern Hemisphere

Some watches like the IWC Portugese Perpetual Calendar, have a double moonphase display, but it looks like a rather complicated mechanism involving multiple overlapping discs.

On the other end of the scale, G-Shocks with Moonphase allow you to switch hemispheres.

G-Shock eh? mmm...could be just the thing. They certainly are packed full of functions. The tough solar appeals. I have been looking at the edifice eqs a500rbp so Casio is an option.

Ironically, I never saw JLC Duometre a Quantieme Lunaire for Northern hemisphere - only for Southern one.
