Most asked question? - What to buy?

    Hello everyone,

Long time lurker here who became a member today to get some advice on which watch to buy.
I must confess that i never been interested in watches until i stumbled across this forum. The community seems really nice and the watches some members post on the forum is AMAZING.

As you certainly already noticed my native language isn't english so my writing is not the best

The first mechanical watch I bought was the Orient Bambino

And now I'm after something new. Since I already have a dressed watch I'm now locking for a diver and/or a pilot and having BIG problems on choosing.

Which alternative would you choose? Any other recommendations (no used watch)?

Can help maybe a little. Have owned Longines and currently own a CW. Finishing on both is good, little better on Longines I'd say. Oris and Sinn both have a lot of fans here so I'm sure you'll get more feedback soon. Other alternatives, first that pops into my head is a Tag Heuer. Maybe an Eterna.

The C60 is a lovely watch and I'd recommend it to anyone who stood still long enough. The Aquis, though, is just that bit nicer.

Out of those options I'd go for the two CWs.

That Sinn does nothing for me, and though the Oris is nice I prefer the styling of the Trident.

I think the most asked question on WUS is probably "what are you wearing?' it seems like someone is asking that question every day and in multiple forums

    but anywho
of the divers you're contemplating, I'd go Oris.

Re: Most asked question? - What to buy?

    Longines HC.

That particular Sinn is not the one to pick IMO,
I had and sold the C60 (its a bit too heavy and slightly odd design wise),
Aquis proprietary straps are a complete no-no for me and its again a bit biggish and awkard in how the straps are sort of rigid

The HC allows you to use a ton of straps and looks good on them as well, from NATO to Rubber to leather. Heck switching out different colors of Nato itself will keep things interesting. That would be the one to pick. The Stowa flieger someone else suggested is decent as well, lots of options like that though from Laco, Stowa, Archimede, Alpina, Muhle etc.

But for a sub 1k diver, pick the HC.

Depending on the size of your wrist the Aquis is very nice but is usually found in 43mm. I like the look of the Sinn a lot, esp. with the rice bead bracelet. The HydroConquest has tons of fans but I can't get used to the hands. No exposure to the CW so can't comment.

Re: Most asked question? - What to buy?

I own the Hydroconquest and am very happy with it. Very nicely finished and quite versatile being on the dressy side for a diver though a little thick to fit under a shirt cuff. Love the unique crown guard and stamped case back. On the other hand, the bracelet scratches quite easily (or the polished centre links do) and lume isn't the best, though functional most of the time.
