All of my watches have been scratched... It's unavoidable, no matter the amount of money spent.

The guy never even post pics. For all we know, it was total BS. 11 pages for that thread and not a single pic posted?

I read the whole thing. Soon after the OP started the sad story, he never returned, nor ever posted any pictures of the dearly departed pan.........

My Omega SMP, also my most expensive watch in general. Second day I got it, it hit HARD on the doorway, I'm surprised the crystal didn't shatter. All I was left with was a scratch on the crystal (which is pretty hard to do on sapphire). Kinda hard to see in pics, but I tried, if you look VERY closely around the 12 o'clock marker you might be able to see a very very thin hairline scratch, not major (thankfully) but still enough to make me a bit more cautious.

Interesting, the OP was Omega forum moderator with over 4K posting? I don't think he would lie about this stuff though.

Oh well. Scratch is unavoidable if you wear your watches.

Just enjoy it. A watch in a safe does nobody good IMHO.

I had an incident vaguely similar to Todd (Emmanuelgoldstein). I just purchased a Taylor Made r11 driver. In a truly freak accident I broke the shaft.....in pure disgust with myself for being such an oaf, I tossed it knowing full well that I could simply have it re-shafted. Now I'm stuck with my old r7 super quad.

The moral of this story is that sometimes we act without fully weighing the ramifications.

    Cheers!!
