    My First Digital Watch

As a mechanical engineering student, ive always been obsessed with well.....mechanisms, so by nature i prefer vintage mechanical watches. I just buy them, rebuild them, and they keep good time. Ive never desired a digital watch.....untill today.

Went to wallyworld to get a band for a russian diver i recently serviced, browsed the watches......as i always do.

My eyes laid claim on this beautiful piece of technology.

Casio........for 12 dollars! I buy non-running vintage for 12 dollars, a brand new watch for that; should be theft.

It has digital time, a secondary timezone, chronograph, alarm, hour chime, and a CALCULATOR!

Thats right boys, a calculator. If an engineer is to own a watch, it should be this one.

Maybe im a little excited about this, i love math, and ofcourse i practice mental math for enjoyment and relaxation but this just the most novel thing ive ever seen.

    Thanks for looking,
    Cody.

Great buy! Be careful....Casio affordables are a very slippery slope. There's a ton of fun Casio out there.

I have one that is a TV remote! I adjust the TV volume with my Casio, like this one:

..........seriously? That sounds awesome. I am aware the risk of "cheap" watches. Thats okay, its novel, not an investment. Casio does have some amazing stuff, just the time ive spent on google.....thermos, compasses....i never knew.

I remember when these were very fashionable, about 30 to 35 years ago. Doesn't look like Casio have changed the design since then. If you like vintage (and especially Russian vintage where the production runs are very long) then this is a fitting addition to the collection.

I like some of the slide rule watches out there... Much more visually appealing than a normal calculator, and you can do your calculations the old school style.

I have one of the casio chronos with a slide rule, because i cant afford breitling without going hungry for a few years haha!

Unfortunatly, it doesnt have trig functions, gotta whip out the lame regular calculator for that. :'(
