My new Watanabe sun and moon watch

They take one to two months to make. I waited and waited and waited and today my Watanabe sun and moon watch arrived. It's even more handsome than I expected. I ordered it from Rakuten (a Japan online store). It looked good online, but when I put it on my wrist, it looked perfect. I have a couple moon phase and sun and moon watches, but this is by far the most attractive one that I own.

This particular watch has a quartz movement. I'm now waiting another two months for another, handmade Watanabe watch, which has a mechanical movement. Watanabe Masaaki Watanabe Studio is in Tokyo. When you order one of their watches, you can choose some different configurations, including the band color and whether you prefer a flat or cratered case. My Watanabe sun and moon watch has a flat case; my next Watanabe watch will have a cratered case. I can't wait!

I haven't seen these watches on any crowdfunding sites. The only place I've seen them for sale is on Rakuten. I might go to their Tokyo shop one day, though. Here's another photo that I took of my watch earlier this evening, with the moon rising.

That's an interesting looking watch. Enjoy it. Hope that guy gets to make more.

Looks like it's been damaged in the package.

The watches have a post industrial look. It's a change (for me) from the dressy look of many of my watches.

It definitely needs an overhaul just like the postindustrial infrastructure.
