    NATO Strap Colour Help

Hello guys, I have here a Seiko 5 7009. Straight-forward, I want a NATO strap and I need you to give me some ideas which may look the best on this watch. Looking for your answers. Thanks!

Not NATO. Brown perlon with gold buckle. Eulit Panama has this combo in a one-piece strap...check Holben's (US) or WatchGecko (UK). Unfortunately, I don't see a gold buckle option in the Panama 2-piece or in the Palma...a much heavier weave...lines. You can also go black perlon with a gold buckle...same limitations...but the brown would be a better choice, IMO.

In nylon, dark brown and black are gonna be the easier choices. Fairly dark navy blue would be fine, too. That much high-gloss gold tone suggests a quieter strap to me, so even blue/black stripe would be...not great. Black seat belt with yellow edging would be pretty cool if you could find it; WatchGecko has their test runs of seat belt Natos, including a couple edged in a contrast color...orange or red, IIRC. Might be worth a look. Seat belt material always looks better to me than the typical linear-grained stuff, which is just too shiny.

I'd do a black NATO with PVD so the silver doesn't clash with the gold watch unless you can find a NATO w/ gold buckles, but I agree with gangrel, perlon would be dressier and look more appropriate. I don't think a NATO matches very well with this particular watch. Personally, I'd go with a leather strap, either black or dark brown.

    NATO Strap Colour Help

Hmmm...I think this will look better with a brown leather strap but I'll second the black NATO w/PVD buckle and hardware suggestion. The watch dial is the attention drawer and you don't want the strap to outdo the watch.

Great advice guys. I'll stick with a somewhat faded nato strap. Gangrel has some pretty good advice there, but I can't order from my country for now. Wzm4114, I agree that Nato might not be the wisest strap, but leather won't do for me since I am tired of dressy-looking and also I do not like really sporty watches. I've thought about the golden buckle thing, and a golden buckle would do the job better than anything else metal-wise.

That gap looks pretty narrow. You sure a NATO will even slip through it?

Not really sure, but I will try it before I will buy it. I hope so.

I noted the gap too. Kristall and Panama perlon shouldn't be an issue...Palma might be. Some nylons are thicker than others, so it might be hard to say.

I do like the notion of PVD buckles, but I'd be worried about long-term wear. The buckle takes the most abuse.

BTW, there are 2-piece nylon 'NATO' straps, where the thickness would become irrelevant. And you don't have the extraneous hardware that you don't want, IMO, with this watch.
