Need Advice For A Mens Dress Watch

Just joined this amazing forum. I've spent quit a bit of time searching this site over the past few days but would appreciate your advice on a mens dress watch. Here's my criteria:

1-Thin, smallish not big and bulky
2-Want a simple dial with date. Only need it to tell time and remind me of the date. Don't need anything else on the dial.
3-Prefer gold case color and leather strap. Don't want a metal bracelet.
    4-Will consider vintage.
    5-Price range around $1,000 US

To give you an idea of what appeals to me I really like the looks of the vintage Baume & Mercier model 95248. Know very little about Baume & Mercier but find it curious that this forum doesn't even have a catagory for Baume & Mercier? Does that mean these are not good watches? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Have you looked at the Tissot le Locle powermatic 80? There are several gold coloured options, with roman numerals and a date complication.

This is my go-to, reasonably-priced dress watch recommendation.

Seiko Cocktail Time, and might look at the Mido brand as well.

BTW, Baume et Mercier is a fine brand. There are waaaaaaaay too many brands out there for each to have a separate subforum, so don't draw any conclusions about a brand based on whether or not they have a subforum here (or anywhere else).

You've gotten some good suggestions. I'd say check Tissot, Rado, Mido, Seiko, basically anything that ends in "O". :) Oh, and Hamilton. Check them as well. Lots of choices out there.

Hamilton, Tissot, and Seiko come to mind for starting out. I'd recommend Hamilton above the others though.

Personally I think Baume & Mercier and Longines make some of the nicest "affordable" classic dress watches, although their mechanical offerings might be slightly above your price range. But I'd definitely check them out and look for a bargain.

For example, you'll have a hard time beating this Longines Grande Classique, available grey market for $900. Longines 49212112

Would a Tissot Carson fit the bill?
