    Need Advise...Trading my Omega Speedmaster

I need some advise. I have an Omega Speedmaster silver face (3211.30.00) and it has been a great watch but I have always wanted a Rolex Sub or GMT. I am starting to look into trading/selling my Speedy for a Rolex.

What are some realistic values I can expect to get for my Omega sell/trade and the value of a Rolex Sub (prefer non-date).

Is there any reason why I should not switch from Omega to Rolex? I can’t afford to buy the Rolex flat out, so I have to use the Omega to help fund it.

    Thanks!

That's exactly what I did. Do it!

For valuing your Speedmaster, watchrecon and eBay sold items will provide a valid market range. You can narrow the range by comparing cosmetic condition of the watch, presence or absence of box and papers, service history, etc.

Hey google...did you trade and pay the difference or did you sell your Speedy outright and then look for the Sub?

The cost of servicing is less.

Sold it outright and then picked up the Sub. Always better to sell then to trade IMO.

Re: Need Advise...Trading my Omega Speedmaster

I just did this myself, selling a Speedy Pro to help fund a NOS Rolex GMT II. In my case I'd been looking at this particular watch for some time, but it had previously been relatively over priced and I had to sell a few other watches first to pay for it. The sale of the Speedy was the final piece in the jigsaw.

Having sold one and sold the other, I can say, happily, that it was the right move for me. The Rolex has rarely been off my wrist and I'm really enjoying it. One day there may be another Speedy, but the GMT II has been a Grail for 5-6 years, and I'm delighted to have it.
