Need help to change battery in Casio 2587 watch

Several times I have successfully changed batteries in my Casio Model 2587 watch.

However, today the spring clip doesn't want to release when I press down with a sewing needle in the area between the prongs (method I've used before).

How much pressure is usually needed? Do I need to pry the bottom of the clip away from the battery? Is there another way to open the clip?

It turns out I needed to use a thinner needle and angled so as to push the bottom of the clip away from the battery. Didn't need to short either. Was running and on time 2 minutes later without resetting time manually. Good old Casio.
