Need help selecting the best Speedmaster

I need help selecting a Speedmaster and I know there will be people on this site who know the brand and models. I want to buy secondhand, I don't want a vintage model but a model that will hopefully hold its value i.e. a classic. I am willing to pay up to £3K for the right watch but would prefer to pay less! Do I buy auto or wind-up, which movement, strap type etc and what price would I need to pay to get a good one? All basic stuff like that. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

if you don't know what you want how do we even know .... do a bit of research !!!

It sounds like you have little interest to find out .... The model number of the one that you want to know is 3750.50 ... thats the classic one, runs about 2.2k - 2.8k. on bracelet

The questions you've asked are difficult to answer because the history of the Speedmaster is quite long, and many different models have been sold over the years. There are pros and cons of each with which you (and you alone) will have to wrestle. Here are a couple sites that I think will be useful to you:

    chronomaddox-speedy history
    lesmala-more speedy history
    how to buy a speedy

These three sites are a good start, but there's MUCH more information available.

Take your time, have fun, and good luck!

I can understand asking the "best" or most "classic" DeVille or Seamaster, but really? The Speedmaster? Of all the watch collections out there to ask about this one? Here's the best in order of importance.

    1. 3750.50
    2.
    3750.50
    3.
    3750.50
    4.
    3750.50
    5.
    3750.50
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    1000000.
    3750.50

You just have to decide for yourself which on that list you want.

I would go with the classic model 3570. I prefer the sapphire and the exhibition caseback so I went with the 3573.
