Need help with weird watch problem !

I have a West End Secundus watch I was told between 1910 1930. Anyhow...the watch worked amazing when i got it. Literally kept time right to the second for over 2 weeks straight with regular winding. Now all of a sudden it stops while holding it in various positions and angles. I sent it for servicing and the guy said it was dry somewhat and he oiled it for me but other then that it looked in good condition on the inside. Its worked great for him...he took a video of it before he sent it back to me and showed me and rotated it in all positions and it worked excellent. I get in on my arm it stops. i hold it it stops..i set it down it runs. i pick it up it stops. I don't get it. Any help would be great as its very frustrating !!!

Sounds like you have a magnetic personality...

No joke, maybe youíve built up some static electricity and itís somehow impacting the watch? Try earthing yourself (touch an iron/steel object thatís preferably sitting on the ground). Maybe itíll help?

Canít think of what else could be causing such an odd issue.

I recall reading a thread here about people that are more "magnetic" than others, and some other sites which also have stories of such a phenomenon where watches just stop working on some people's wrist. Definitely would be interesting if that could spring up all of a sudden or if you could figure out what would be the cause.

Nope...still doesnt work. I do not have a clue. I did have glass work done on it previously will too much pressure be on it somehow? But it DID work for the watchmaker i took it to.

I would take the watch to another watchmaker for a second opinion and look into.

Yes i think so...its sitting flat and running like a charm not a second late so far. So weird why all of a sudden it stops.

Adding new oil to old to combine with the ever present rubi dust and steel particles to form the best in abrasive compounds.

Run away from this clueless cat and try to locate an actual watchmaker who can disassemble the movement, clean its components and diagnose issues present if any.

The issue with old watches that age are that parts may not be readily available. If at all. Some highly skilled watchmakers have equipment to remanufacture those parts. However, it's quite costly.

Without a complete disassembly and service of the watch, it's difficult to say where the problem is.
