    Need a microscope to inspect your watches? Make one for $10.

    Well, $10 provided you already have a smartphone.

    Simple, cheap, set up, haven't tried making one (yet), but it looks like it works great.
    Would imagine it'd be great for inspecting dials, movements, hands etc for signs of cracks, wear, corrosion etc.

    Get a jewellers loupe,some cost very cheap (though most cost $50 or above)

    Well the advantage of this (besides being cheaper if you already have the smartphone) is greater magnification (X175) and the ability to take photos.

    anything more than 10x is overkill..plus I cant bring that to a shop :(
