    Needing next purchase advice.

Hey everyone, I'm looking to add a watch into my current collection of watches. I don't have anything super fancy, as I'm finishing up grad school and awaiting to go back to law school. Most of the watches in my collection are in the affordable side of things, and that's usually where I dwell when I'm on WUS. Sorry in advance that the opening to yet another 'Help me pick' thread didn't start with 'I'm a newbie to all of this and I have a boatload of money but don't want to come off as ostentatious.'

I should start by saying that I have a few different watches, but some I've loaned out to friends with little intentions of getting back in a timely manner. In the collection so is an Armida, Damasko DA-36, A couple G-shocks, the HMT white pilot, Moflake (s/o to Jelliottz and anyone else who dwells on f71), Marathon GSAR, Nomos Tangente, Speedy (3590.50), Seamaster Bond, 5500 Air-king, 007, Titus supercompressor, the original Blackbay, and a couple of Vostoks, and some other stuff.

    (because every thread needs photos!)

The speedy and the blackbay are both with a friend, and it's one of those things where every time I get them back I try to pawn them off back on to the same friend. I've just never really bonded with them and I think the only reason why I've kept them for this long is because every time I try to, someone on here says 'You can't! They're quintessential to having a well rounded collection.' I find myself leaning to wearing my air-king, nomos, and sometimes the damasko, however I'm not always leaning towards dressier pieces.

I've been eyeing a vintage Memovox and a Watchco Seamaster 300, but I'm open to all y'alls input as to what would be a fun watch to add. I have 4500 USD to spend, but maybe something you guys suggest may push me over to finally getting around to selling the blackbay and speedy to add to the pot.

    TL;DR
So with all of that said and done, if you guys had a budget of 4500-9000 what would be the best addition?

Those are some beautiful watches. Sorry I can't help you as that is out of my price range although I do have a Tag Monaco which is my most expensive watch. I don't know if you have considered this. Tags aren't for everyone though.

JLC Master Control perhaps. Might be dipping into the territory of your Nomos. A 36mm Explorer if you could track one down(shouldn't be too hard), would be another nice option. If you want to mix it up with a cheaper piece, the Marathon General Purpose Mechanical has a similar dial layout to your Marathon, is a reasonable size, and has a really unique case.

No point hanging onto what you don’t wear. I’d sell the speedy, BB, and use the resulting larger pot to go for an Explorer I.

You seem to prefer simple three handers based on what you wear and do not, and this would meet that criteria while also covering you on the more sporty and hard wearing end.

Look out for that Speedy falling in and burning itself. How about a nice Breitling?

That is exactly what I was thinking; save the Speedy!

$4.5k is a good budget to work with, and your choices are great if you really like vintage watches. Have you looked into the new Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial? I've been drooling about them.....

I dig your collection. If I were to add to it, it would be something more, um, feisty? Less reserved?

A 39mm Explorer I is a great all arounder and a safe bet. In that price range, there's a ton of Datejusts to choose from or a 39mm OP if you're looking for something other than the typical black dial. Then of course there's the Milgauss if you want something a little different. I've owned all the watches I listed and they are all simplistic and pretty under the radar (depending on the color of the Datejust). For me the Milgauss has outlasted all the rest and isn't leaving my collection, so even though that won't get the popular vote, it's the one I vote for. Good luck on the search.

Well my friend you are crushing it! That is a very fine collection already. I had the same issue with Tudor and love my Pelagos (two-line). I am kind of a Rolex guy so give that airking some company. Perhaps a Rolex Explorer II, Sub, or GMT?
