New Automatic watch, Chronograph function not working

Hello. New to this forum. I just opened my new Baume and Mercier Classima 8591 Automatic watch. I turned the crown about 30 clicks to get the watch started, set the time and date. Clock function is working fine. However, the chronograph function is not working when pressing the top button. I waited a 2-3 hours and still does not seem to work. This is my first Automatic and Chronograph watch so I'm hoping it's just me not knowing what to do instead of it being defective out of the box. Let me know what you think. I purchased from Jomashop so unfortunately it doesn't come with B&M warranty.

Welcome to the forums! Did you wind the crown the correct direction? You may have moved the watch enough to get the second had started, but not enough to wind the watch and you may have turned the crown the wrong direction. Alternatively, maybe the chronograph needs to be reset?

Thanks for your reply. I turned the crown clockwise per instructions. Also per instructions is to turn the crown 20-30 times. I'm not sure if they mean 20-30 clicks or 20-30 full 360 turns? If it's the latter then I definitely haven't turned it enough times yet. Anyone know if this usually means 20-30 click turns or 360 turns? I also didn't think about the chrono being reset. It doesn't give any specific instructions on that. Everything is set at the 12 oclock mark though.

Turns ! Since there is a clutch to prevent overwinding you can give it some more terms if you want to.

Sorry trying to cook and watch my 6 month old at the same time. See picture for what I mean.

Sound like it's broken to me. Obviously your watch is working and keep the time because the small hand is still going but your stopwatch (big hand) seems to be broken. Something may bent, jammed or snapped inside that prevent you using the stopwatch.

Press the top button to starts the big hand and press the top button again to stop the big hand and then press the bottom button to reset the big hand to 12 o'clock position. It if does not work then I afraid you will have to get it refunded.

You really need to have a instruction because some chronograph watches needs to be set correctly depends between 9 to 2 or otherwise you will brake the watch.

Sadly I agree with the last poster. The picture confirms they are not screw down pushers (if you want to use the watch in water) so it sounds like it is faulty.

When you press the top pusher does it 'click'?
