New to the fold; old to the love of timepieces.

    Hello everyone,

I've always had a fascination with watches, clocks and timepieces. Until recently however, I have not been able to wear a watch as I have permanent nerve damage in my extremities and wearing a watch or any type of jewelry on my body has been quite painful in the past.

I have recently been able, through new treatment methods, to tolerate wearing a watch and have begun a very modest collection of watches I find somewhat interesting. My most "impressive" piece to date is a Kenneth Cole KC 1514: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AyXHBEYEr0

Like I said, modest collection. I've been giving myself a crash course in horology (mostly fumbling; I suppose) recently and was excited to find this forum.

I am currently enamored of this watch (yes, I understand it is a "replica"): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svr0CjdWv70 as well as this watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5DkiZAvwOs

Thank you for reading this and tolerating yet another new member and I look forward to getting to know this hobby and community.

    Jaiman,
    Welcome to the forum.
I'm sorry about your condition but I'm glad you can finally enjoy watches wearing them.
This is a wonderful place with a lot of knowledge and amazing pieces but with very little tolerance and interest in replicas.
Since you are only starting this journey I would strongly recommend to start with something proper.
    By proper I mean "original"
no matter what you choose it'll be better than replica.!
Horology world is so wast that it's hard to comprehend to a person who is just getting in to it.
You'll find numerous brands that are excellent and like I said, it'll be better than replica.
Start with Citizen, Seiko and similar mainstream brands.
For something different in your price range maybe try Zeppelin or Junkers.
    Another is Stuhrling.
You can also try Chinese watches which will be the closest to what you are looking for regarding that Breguet.
    Tianjin Seagull, Beijing Watch...
Sea Gull will be probably your best bet
Here's picture of one that's in your price range and resembles to what you like

Try looking here or just Google it

Boutique brands are also something you should look and inform your self.
What ever you find on this forum will be ok but don't go in to replicas.
Good luck and believe me, you are just about to jump in the rabbit whole.
It'll be an awesome ride which will hopefully never end!

Welcome to the forum, I hope your health conditions improve...and you're able to enjoy the watch community.

If your nerve issues flare up again, may I suggest an alternative

Thank you very much for your suggestions. I will admit to being awestruck by the fake; a rookie mistake to be sure. Thank you for your suggestions on the watches. The Seagull is quite striking.

I am looking forward to learning more and more. I have been reading much this evening on the forums; especially the sticky threads. I've also ordered a couple of suggested books.
