    Hello all,

I recently happened upon this website and was glad to find it. I have always been interested in watches, but I did not realize there were so many people out there that collect them as a hobby. Several members have already helped me identify a couple of Russian watches I was given many years ago. Most of the watches I have are not very valuable, but I still enjoy them regardless. Anyhow, I look forward to learning much from this group!

    Russ

    Russ
Then they are, indeed, very valuable.

I've learned that the term "value", in the context of watches, is extremely deceptive. It is dangerous practice to judge a watch on its monetary value, for that is not appreciating the watch on its merits. Some people take greater pride in the price of their watch, rather than the watch itself.

Those that truly value their watch, are not interested in price.

Welcome, Russ! I'll echo the earlier sentiment: it's not how much the watch costs, but what it means to you that matters the most. I have an old Seiko that was my late father-in-law's; it's not much to look at, but it's sentimental value is tremendous. Someday I'll get it cleaned up and give it to my son...I know he will appreciate and take care of it, because he has his own small collection of watches already.

    Enjoy your time here!
