    New Green-Dial Grand Seiko LE!

Beautiful New Grand Seiko SBGJ227 LE

Grand Seiko just announced their latest limited edition, this gorgeous SBGJ227. Green dial Grand Seikos have long been some of the most sought-after, in part because of their beauty and in part because of their rarity.

This new SBGJ227 uses Grand Seiko’s latest Hi-Beat GMT movement, the 9S86, so collectors are getting the absolute best mechanical watch GS offers.

But the real treat is the textured green dial. It’s a very interesting design that still evokes an almost sunburst appearance due to its raised, radiating pattern. GS says that this was inspired by a peacock’s tail.

The 40mm watch is $6,500 and just 700 will be made. Please click here to read A Blog To Watch’s excellent article or pre-order your own by e-mailing us at [email protected] or calling us at 214-494-4241.

Looks nice--but NOT green--could take almost any other color--blue, anthracite grey, even red--but not green.

Only thing that concerns me is the height. Price is quite reasonable for a hi-beat.

I hesitated to click on this thread simply because I’ve yet to come across a green dial that even remotely appeals to me. But whaddaya’ know....I’m diggin’ it. Definitely not your typical green, it manages to throw off a very elegant, sophisticated vibe. Not bad at all. I wonder if I can sell my wife on the idea of a “Holiday” watch. I mean, I look dorky as wonk in Christmas sweaters....maybe I can appeal to her festive side.

I love the green! We've had more than enough blue watches over the last few years. My only concern is the thickness. The article says it's 14.4mm. That's a lot for a 40 mm watch.

Yeah, in some photos it has an almost blueish hue to it. It's very rich, chromatically speaking.

Mmmm? It’s absolutely lovely but I’m not sure whether I’d spend GS money on a green dialled watch. It is lovely though.

Exquisite Emerald Green dial. And I dig how the hue of the'GS' logo matches the GMT hand and script @ '6'.

    Not for me, though.

Always gonna be true. :) You know you can't please everyone so...you got to please yourself.................... :)

From the pics, it's more like a teal green. Teals generally balance right on the cusp of an even blue/green balance. Pantone teal green (19-4922) is 99G, 97B. Emerald is green with considerable, but less, blue. Pantone's 2013 color of the year was emerald: 155G, 119B. Here's a quick side by side:
